Check out the soulful throwback track, "Home Again," by London native Michael Kiwanuka, as well as some additional tracks from his previous EPs. Kiwanuka is the son of Ugandan parents, and lists among his influences Bill Withers, Otis Redding, Bob Dylan, and Jodi Mitchell. Although he has released only two EPs (a third, "Home Again" is on the way in early 2012), Kiwanuka has a style steeped in the traditions of soul, folk, and jazz, and his music is immediately inviting, beautiful, and timeless. His voice is lush and soothing, and it complements the muffled beat and finger-picked acoustic guitar with a naturalness approaching angelic. Subtle details like the addition of harmonies in the second verse, the swelling strings, and the single measure of chimes near the two minute mark add a sense of nostalgia and detail that's impossible not to enjoy.
