Album Stream: Rue Royale, "Guide To An Escape"

Ruth & Brookln Dekker, the husband-wife duo better known as Rue Royale, like arts and crafts. So much, in fact, that their website tells us they've knitted hot water bottle covers, bags, and clothing for their merch table, and they've put together over 7,500 CDs and 500 pre-orders without major label backing. They've also covered 80,000 miles on the road touring Europe in support of their eponymous debut. The husband-wife team (originally working in chicago) are a true example of a grassroots effort, and their fastidiousness extends to their songwriting and performance. Their sophomore LP, "Guide To An Escape" (which came out in 2011 but is new to me) is full of dark, harmony laden melodies inspired by the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Jose Gonzalez, Elbow, and Radiohead. Standouts include "Halfway Blind" and "We'll Go On Alright," but you can stream the entire album below and decide for yourself. Be sure to support them by buying a copy of their record at their website.
