Listen: Grimes, "Oblivion" & "Genesis"

I want Clair Boucher, the one-woman show behind Grimes, and Dan Bejar to have a brain child who combines the musical and artistic sensibilities of each. And lives in Vancouver. And wants to invite me to Vancouver to hang out. Besides being an artist in her own right, Boucher sings and plays the piano, and on "Visions," her debut album for 4AD, she fashions candied synth pop that she describes as "post-internet" (I'm not entirely sure what that means, but you can probably look it up. On the internet. Which still exists). Take a moment and head over to Boucher's website  to check out the surreal, macabre paintings she creates (likely the source of the album's Misfit-esque artwork which, ironically, belies the album's generally upbeat and sacharine tone). Boucher spent much of 2011 touring in support of Lykke Li, and it's nice to see her enjoying some critical success after her initial release. Check out track, "Oblivion" below. Enjoy.
