Album Stream: "Yugen" by Tape Sounds

Massachusetts based project Tape Sounds is the work of the one-man musician, found sound, and tape collage-artist, Nate Kellogg. Kellogg says that his work is, "Music made with what's lying around in [his] house." While this is undoubtedly true, he nonetheless curates downtempo electronica and hip-hop influenced beats, adding his own instrumental guitar work, found and intentional recordings, and natural ambience to the mix. The contrast between what is often a mellow, layered acoustic backbone, the synth-infused beats, and the found sounds often instills his recordings with a blissfully hushed psychedelia--perfect stuff for a cooling season and coming winter. While tracks like "Gunna" and "Cosmosis" are undoubtedly standouts, it's the peaceful naturalism and glowing lo-fi ambience of tracks like "Tall Trees" and "Can You Count To Turkeys?" that showcase Kellogg's humor, patience, and attention to mood. You can stream the entire 32-track album below, but be sure to pick up your own copy and support Kellogg and his project. For what it's worth, Kellogg, I'm finding plenty to appreciate about your tunes.
