It's easy for me to forget how important pop and dance music really are. As someone whose idea of dancing is playing air drums as I hop awkwardly around the living room when nobody is home, it's often harder for me to appreciate good dance music when I hear it. After all, how can one possibly expect to identify good dance music if he never goes out dancing? Call it a fluke, but the minute I heard Robyn's first EP early this year, I knew this was some seriously fun dance music and some seriously good pop music. I have a dozen reasons why I think she should be receiving all the praise in place of Lady Gaga (not the least of which being her love of robots), but I'll spare you and ask you instead to listen to the two tracks I've embedded from her new album, Body Talk. This album is the combination of her previously two released EPs (Body Talk Pt. 1 and Body Talk Pt. 2), and contains some new versions of previously released tracks. Robyn actually makes music, damnit! Lady Gaga has been riding one album, a series of ridiculous publicity stunts, and gowns made of raw meat. Check out Robyn's new record and start getting her some of the praise she deserves.
