Kurt Vile

Kurt Vile's record, Childish Prodigy, is the shit. I totally undervalued it last year when it came out, and I suggest you give it a good listen. Hints of Seger, Dylan, Springsteen, Petty, and sweet sweet low-fi home recording goodness come through after a few attentive listens. My favorite tracks on the record are "Freak Train," "Blackberry Song," and "Amplifier." The album somehow manages to be both raw and refined, raucous and ambient. Unfortunately, I was only able to embed the track "Freeway" from his previous release, which showcases just how catchy he can be, but not his full range. If you like this track, be sure to check out his previous release, Constant Hitmaker.
